GoldMax Partners with the Make-A-Wish Foundation

GoldMax believes in giving back to the community. Recently GoldMax partnered with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois to grant one special child their dream wish. The wish was granted to a 17 year old aspiring drummer named Ben. His dream wish was to meet his idol Neil Peart, a drummer from the band Rush.

At birth, Ben was diagnosed with multiple congenital anomalies of the heart, defects in the structure of the heart that obstructs blood flow. Despite having to be cautious during certain activities, Ben does not let his diagnosis get in the way of pursuing his passions and being a normal teenage boy. He lives, breathes and sleeps music. He is a very talented drummer.

On the morning of his wish, Ben and his family were picked up by limo and taken to the airport - just like a true rockstar. They traveled to San Antonio, Texas, where Rush was playing a concert.

On Ben’s big wish day, he got the entire behind the scenes, VIP treatment. He was taken on a personal tour of the stage area before the show, and even got the chance to sit at Neil’s personal drum set that he uses during shows and played a little for his family and the stage crew.

After the show, the highlight of Ben’s night, he was escorted backstage where he finally met his idol, Neil Peart. Ben was able to spend special one-on-one time with the drummer where they exchanged stories, music tips, and high fives. Ben could not have been more thankful for his incredible experience. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that Ben and his family will cherish forever.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois grants the wishes of children who are experiencing a life-threatening illness or medical condition.
